Minutes of the Special Meeting of Maresfield Parish Council held on

 Tuesday 31 August 2004 in the Parish Office Nutley

Present:  Cllr W King, Cllr P Tester, Cllr G Hardy, Cllr J Gutteridge, Cllr K Ogden, Cllr H Fry, Cllr C Stephens, Cllr R Woodgate, Cllr T Sparrow, Cllr Mrs S Weekes. DCllr J Hollins.

Clerk: Tony Allen. 

1.            Apologies for absence - DCllr N Buck.

2.            Declarations of interest – None.

3.         To approve proposal by Strategy Sub-committee (previously circulated to Councillors) to ask Uckfield Youth Service to provide  a Mobile facility for youngsters on a Wednesday evening at Fords Green in Nutley for a pilot period of 8 weeks this autumn.

Cllr Sparrow made the following points to the meeting:-

• Agreement from the Ashdown Forest Conservators, as owners of the land, was needed
• Fords Green Management Committee would be consulted if any activity inside the rails was anticipated
• The events would need to be advertised to attract the youth of the Parish
• A qualified female volunteer for each event was required
• Handling of an attendance beyond the capacity of the mobile facility needed to be considered
• Effectively there was no cost to the Parish Council, or required commitment
• The events are run and managed by Uckfield Youth Service on their own account, ie not for us
• No additional insurance requirements had been identified

Cllr Sparrow put the above proposal to Council, as Chairman of the Strategy Sub-Committee.

The proposal was Seconded by Cllr Fry and Approved unanimously.

It was agreed that the Strategy Sub-Committee members and the Clerk would progress the work required to prepare for and run these events.

There being no further business, the meeting closed at 19:27.
