Nutley then and now
beneath this item
Here are some 'then and now' images of Nutley.

This is the iron rebus Bow Bells Milestone in 2008 , and the same in approx 1911 in a picture of Frank Ridley in front of his first bicycle shop in Nutley High Street.

In 1910 , a picture was taken of a cadet's parade coming down the High Street. The entrance to St James the Less churchyard can be see as well as Tudor Cottage on the right and the village stores on the left which is now Nutley Antiques.

This picture is taken from the churchyard of St James the Less ,of the house "Forest Dene", in the early 1900s of a ladies carriage outing.

Again , from approx 1911 , the old Nutley Inn , later known as the Shelley Arms is central to the picture which also shows the Old Forge which later became Nutley Garage.

Another picture of the old Nutley Inn in the 1900s. The Chelwood Gate road can be seen on the far left in both pictures.

This picture is a bit more recent and shows Nether Lane in 1965. Whitewood Stores has changed little , likewise Nether Barn on the left, though the road junction and the old 'triangle' have gone.
